…are happening! Yesterday was a busy day for this little bunny. I had a job interview, did a little thrifting AND started on Pt 2 of Build-A-Room! Last night, Connor and I went for a bike ride to meet up with some new friends here in Tulsa. It was a great day, but I am feeling it today!
I wanted to take a moment to share with you what I found yesterday at an antique store near my house:
Jefferson Revere Pewter rocks glasses!
How cool are those? I love them. And they go perfectly with my bar/current silver obsession.
Now I can replace those old bar tins I have been using. Yesterday was 91 degrees at the peak of the day, so I was ready for an ice cold cocktail by 5:30.
Mmmm….can you see the sweat pouring form the glass? I made my favorite summer cocktail in honor of my new pewter cup:
1.5 oz Hendrix Gin
.5 oz Pimm’s No 1
.75 oz water or soda water
4 dashes Angostura bitters
Garnish: lime wheel
I did a little research about the safety issues surrounding pewter drinking-ware. I found that as long as you stay away from tomato juice or wine (or anything super acidic), you should be fine to use these. Apparently, some older pewter cups were made with more than 5% lead, and anything too acidic could penetrate the metal and release the lead. We don’t want that. So maybe skip the lime.
Stay tuned! Later today, I’ll show you the progress I have made on my little sun room!
