DIY: Gold-Dipped Side Table.

May 15, 2012

A lot has happened over the past week, hence the recent halt in my never-ending search for cheap (but quality!) furniture for my sun room. Over the past 7 days, I got a new job (YAY!), had my first dinner party with some new friends here in Tulsa, and celebrated Connor’s birthday. After getting my reigns in though, I am anxious to get back out there and find the perfect pieces for my new room. Here is one idea I found on that is going to be my next project; DIY gold dipped side table:

I see tables like this ALL THE TIME at Salvation Army, Goodwill & countless other second hand stores for no more than $15 usually.

According to the directions, if the table I choose is laminate (or has a veneer finish), I will need to sand and then prime the table with white acrylic paint first.

Next, I will give the table 3 coats of white spray paint. After the paint dries, just simply tape the legs off to a desired measurement and spray paint the ends gold. And then you have this:

Not too bad! Here is another version they have posted if you aren’t into the whole gold thing:

And look, a little bunny 😉

Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE Design Sponge?! Well, I LOVE Design Sponge. Here is the link to the full post if you are thinking of taking this awesomely simple project on:

Alright, I am off to work this morning and then after, I am going on a hunt for the perfect table. Check back to see how my version turns out!!

Oh, and happy Tuesday!

Hmm it seems like your site ate my first comment (it was
extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I had written and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I as well am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any tips for first-time blog writers? I’d definitely
    appreciate it.

Hi Rolland! I’m sorry you had trouble with the commenting at first. Congrats on joining the blog world! It’s a lot of fun – and can be rewarding, especially when people like you lend compliments. Thank you and thanks for reading!

I guess my first tip for first time blog writers is to do some research. Depending on what the concept of your blog is (travel, photography, food, or just plain writing), I would look at some other blogs in similar fields to help you get a sense as to how you want your blog to look and function.
Second, I would say that keeping a list of posts for your blog is a good tip for anyone new to the blog world! It helps! Especially when the ideas start flowing.
One really important one for me is learning HTML code (or CSS) – doing research in this area will help you to customize your blog to exactly the way you want it! I hope this helps! And good luck with your blog – send me the link so I can check it out!

      Thanks for reading,
      Katy/The Clever Bunny
