So sew.

May 21, 2012

Happy Monday, folks! My absence this weekend was due to a group of very awesome visitors Connor and I had in Tulsa. His birthday was a week ago, so four of our friends came and surprised him. I am so glad we pulled it off!!!

My friends have always given me loads of inspiration. This weekend was no different as we went to several thrift stores searching for Tulsa treasure. Over the weekend, I decided that I wanted to open a Clever Bunny store, where I can sell some awesome thrifty finds, things I make, vintage furniture that I find and rework. I decided to open an Etsy store, to start. Here is the link to it, however it’s a work in progress, so, no judgement.

Today, I am setting out to run errands, do some treasure hunting and sew some pillows. I have the BEST GRANDMOTHER IN THE WORLD (sorry guys, there is no competition) who sent me a travel sewing machine as an early birthday present. She taught me how to sew many MANY years ago. I have loads of fabrics and can’t wait to make them into awesome throw pillows.

Check back later today to see the progress I am making on those pillows. Some of them might be for sale on my Etsy store in the future. Until then, I will leave you with some photos of our “Brodeo” weekend with Alex, AJ, Derek and Justin:

Also, I will **eventually* get to the bathroom post. We aren’t there yet, but soon! More later today!

Sigh…like most everything in our lives, you beat me to Etsy. I’ve been working on inventory for months trying to get that bitch off the ground, & you get it up & going in a weekend. C’est la vie. At least our products are different! 🙂

Thanks, but not artwork…at least not at first. Jewelry. I’ve got the Etsy part down, just creating, photographing, editing, descriptions, funding, ect takes so much time. And since I’m an anal perfectionist that has to do it all…it will get there 🙂 A lot of my artwork is on Facebook. If there’s something you like, or want a custom it’s yours. I would be honored to have a piece in the home of the clever bunny! You still have that bench I gave you that Cat & I made when we were in school?

LAURA LEA!!! You are the most creative person I have EVER KNOWN!!! EVER!!! I just find pictures online and try to redo them. That’s why I’m so “clever”. But you are the real deal. You can come up with ideas that I could never dream of and I have always loved/envied/admired/hated/andlovedagain that about you. I would LOVE to put some of your work on my blog – it would be a true honor. I will be in Houston in July. I will bring my camera. Let’s do this!!! Love you so much, my sweet cousin!
Also – Cat has the piece you guys made in art school. I still love it so much.

🙂 Thanks for the comps, but you are creative! Our whole family is in one way or another and I LOVE that about us. There’s not many families that can all have such creative minds and striking good looks. We really should be worshiped in some capacity….& you can draw! Which was something I was never that great at, & you were smart enough to pay attention when Grandmother taught us to sew. & don’t even get me started on your writing skills! I’ve told people for years that have known us both in one way or another that each of us has something the other one is lacking. Together we would be the perfect person. When I really think about it, it’s fascinating to me that two people of the same bloodline, born 4 days apart, & raised together as sisters could become two very different women on the surface- but at our core, where it really matters we are so similar that the whole loved/envied/admired/hated/andlovedagain dynamic is & always has been our constant battle.
I don’t know what of my work I have sitting around anymore…the majority of my creative energy the last 5 years has gone into my job. Other than a few stray paintings I don’t think there’s much to show…but I’ll check my inventory just to make sure. When I get this Etsy shop up and running (hopefully in the next few weeks), it would be amazing to have a blog feature from you! But nevertheless, I would love to be able to see you when you are in town with or without the camera. & I’m so glad Cat has that piece! She was what made that one great. I was killing myself trying to get the highlights right on those lips, & in 20 mins she perfected it. Love you too, so very much. xoxo
