Design Inspirations.

January 17, 2013

There is a local store in Houston called Danish Inspirations, and growing up, the jingle on the commercial was this really sing-songy, catchy tune that got stuck in my head every time I heard it. As I typed the title of this blog, that jingle was all I could think about. Damnit.

Anyway, as I recently mentioned, I am unpacking and decorating my house. I was emailing with a close girlfriend of mine who lives in Paris, France for work (I know, right?). She used to be my neighbor and, among others things, my design guru. I would come to her with questions, advice and ideas. She has the best style, and I learned SO MUCH from her over the years. In our last email, I told her that I was frustrated because I feel I lack the innate ability of knowing exactly where to place things, meaning, I have all of these things, vases, pillows, rugs, cool furniture, but where does it all go? How do I arrange it? Will it look awesome? Or like an idea gone bad? I feel like I have all of the elements of an amazing home, but no idea how to curate the pieces. So this is when I start doing research. I spent a lot of yesterday (and, today at work…oops) finding design inspiration for my new house. Some of the ideas I found are items similar to what I have, or something I have my eye on getting.

I have already accomplished the liquor cart (the results will be up this weekend!), and I plan to DIY some studded pillows like the Nate Berkus for Target one pictured above. Speaking of, does anyone else LOVE the new Shops at Target collections?! I am so happy Target has been stepping it up, especially since my shopping choices are limited here in Tulsa (come on OKLAHOMA!!!). Sigh. It makes me miss the Houston days where every store I could possibly dream of was at my fingertips. Oh well. Oklahoma is forcing me to be more creative by default, which is a good thing. Do you have a favorite design blog? I am always looking for new pages to add to my bookmarks!

Have a wonderful Thursday! I will be back with more this weekend!
