Making: Mimosas (with a twist!)

DSC_1476As I am sitting here typing this, I am enjoying the above pictured libation. This weekend, Connor and I indulged in a Bountiful Basket, a produce co-op located in Oklahoma. Because this organization is volunteer based, all of the produce and and artisan breads are super cheap! And, you get A LOT of food. Honestly, sometimes it is too much for just two people. However with extra food in the house, we use the opportunity to cook larger quantities of things and share with our friends. So really, it works out well.

This week’s basket included a bag of beautiful Red Moro Oranges. They have an interesting color and are about the size of a tangerine:

I had a few friends in town this weekend (read more on that later today!), so when we realized we had forgotten to buy OJ at the grocery store yesterday to go with the prosecco we bought, my buddy had the brilliant idea of using these oranges. The color of the juice is blood red and super sweet, so it went perfect with the dry prosecco and orange bitters that I added to the cocktail.
