Welcome to a new series on The Clever Bunny, Tulsa Tuesday! Each Tuesday I will share a local place, business or person with you. After living here a year, I still haven’t tried all of the things in Tulsa that I have wanted to. So here is a good a way to start! First on TT is Hodges Bend, a new coffee and cocktail drinkery that serves craft coffees and classic cocktails.
I love this place. The coffee is really good (it’s stout and proper! Beware!) and the cocktail menu offers some really fun variations on classic libations. I was an instant fan when part owner and mixologist Noah Bush told me they offer house bitters. You had me at bitters, Noah.
I took my mom here yesterday during her visit to Tulsa. She ordered a tequila, kumquat and mint cocktail while I went for something a little more boozy with gin, sweet vermouth, Campari and Chartreuse.
I love the comfiness of this place, too. They play old jazz records on a 1970’s record player that they keep shelved behind the bar. The bartenders all wear vests and the couches are covered in rips and tufting. The coffee table of one particular nook is an old US Postal Service trunk. The bar is made of marble and the chandeliers are made of old bottles turned upside down.
