Alternative Book Storage (A DIY).

DSC_2781After months of consternating on the issue of book storage, I finally found an answer to my problem. I had a few stacks of books left to store, not enough to warrant the purchase of a book shelf, yet too much to leave stacked on the floor. I found inspiration for this on Pinterest, and while it isn’t exactly the same, it is similar in its way, and I love it. The how-to is really simple. All you need are a few things: two pieces of wood (this can vary – I like the idea of scrap wood, but since I didn’t have any, I bough a 2X8X8 piece of wood and had it cut in half), 4 braces to join the wood together, 4 four-inch castors, 16 washers and a total of 32 screws (for both the braces and the castors).

photo 2-6 copyI joined the two slats of wood with the four braces (they usually come in packs of 4), and added the castors. The washers are used to fit the screws, since the holes on the castors tend to be large. After that, I decided to keep the wood natural, since it matched my bed frame, and since ultimately, it would have books stacked on it.

I am planning a big ole home tour in a few weeks. It’s something I have been wanting to do for a while, and I am finally starting to feel that this house is coming together, so I think it’s time. Stay tuned!

And thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for following my blog. I am so happy to be able to share my life and all of the pretty (and often silly) things in it. And I am so grateful that you care enough to stop by. Thank you <3

Very cool… we may have to do that up here…
and can you please (during all that AIRPLANE TIME you will have tomorrow 🙂 think about how to make a quick and easy padded headboard for the guest room/KIka’s room at Chez Cartland Eagle River? I think you did one on the Clever Bunny already, and it’s one of the missing pieces up here – which you will see tomorrow!!!

Thank you! Go for it! I would love to see yours! This project is still one of my favorites – one of those things that is so easy it almost feels like cheating and I love it so much. Thank you for the feedback =)
