Here’s to another weekend! And a long one at that…well for most of us. As a veteran of the service industry, I remember all of those holidays I had to work when my friends and family didn’t. So to those of you working Monday, I salute you!
To those of you not, I hope you have a wonderful weekend! I plan to get a lot done with my extra day off. It’s supposed to be a hot one, with highs up to 103 tomorrow. Eeeeesh. Which means lots of indoor activities for this one. One great indoor activity here in Tulsa is the Philbrook Museum. We took a couple of friends that were in town last weekend. It’s the old Phillips (a la Conoco-Phillips//Phillips 66) Family mansion that they donated to Tulsa. It was built in the late 1920’s, and while most of the rooms are in tact, the non profit added on a portion of the building to make it a functional museum. In the original wing, there is a lot of beautiful impressionist art hanging. In the new wing, they bring in more modern installations. Right now they have an AWESOME installation called Remainder which features the work of 7 female artists. A lot of the art is sculptures and geometric shapes (hello! My favorite!), and there is one artist who built amazing pieces from building materials. And then there are the gardens:
