Big news, you guys! Connor and I are having a baby! We are completely and totally over the moon excited to become parents, and I hope this explains my radio silence over the last 2 months. There are a few reasons I haven’t been blogging during this first trimester:
1.) I needed to regather. When I found out I was pregnant, it was literally all I could think about for the first month. And while I have been able to carry on with my full time job and some part time photography work, my brain didn’t have any room left for anything but baby!
2.) THE FIRST TRIMESTER IS SO TIRING. Seriously, I have always heard you get pregnancy fatigue, and they weren’t kidding, at least that was the case for me. There are so many AMAZING changes that your body goes through in the first 3 months, and I wanted to be sure to take good care of myself during that incredibly important and formative time. So the time I used to set aside for the blog when I got home and on the weekends was put aside for some much needed rest and relaxation.
3.) STUFF! We need to get rid of SO MUCH STUFF to make room for this baby. My nesting instinct kicked in right away (which is no big surprise!), and all I can envision is a nice, organized home that is clean and minimalist. At least, that’s my goal. A big part of my blog involves thrifting and creating new things, so for the time being, I needed to take a break to assess the things I want to keep and the things I need to toss.
4.) I needed to also reassess what I want this blog to be. I have a lot (A LOT) of blogs bookmarked, and many of them are run by women who started a blog before children, and at some point had a child. Many of those blogs include features on baby related posts or have gone almost completely over to the motherhood blog theme, which is great (especially for new moms like myself who are craving every ounce of advice and information possible!) I wanted to really think about how becoming a mother (!!) will change this blog. I have a plan in the works, something that will honor the original content of this blog and stay loyal to all of my amazing readers who don’t necessarily want to read about cloth diapers every day while also including some new readership with content regarding babies. So don’t worry – there will still be something for everyone here! And think of the DIY possibilities!
Also, I promise not to drop off the face of the earth again. I have a lot to catch up on, and I am planning a guest home tour on a very awesome blog soon, so stay tuned!
